Gabriela Smith is the director of Amanter Philanthropy, and
with her husband, co-founder of the Amanter Fund. She has
designed and launched several scholarship and educational
programs for children and youth, on topics ranging from health
and nutrition to empowering youth and leadership training. She
and her husband are among the founding investors of Venture
Philanthropy Partners (VPP), and Gabriela has been an active
member of the VPP Board since 2001. She also serves as a
member of the Dean’s Council of the Harvard Kennedy School.
Gabriela’s professional background includes supervising health
and education projects for the World Bank, as well as launching
the Hispanic Families Leadership Program, while serving as a social
worker in Los Angeles. She received a M.A. from the Harvard
Kennedy School, and a M.A. and B.A. in Economics from UCLA.
